This site issues permits for oversize and overweight vehicles along state owned routes. This includes Interstate, Turnpike, US, WV, and County routes. Permits for local or city routes should be obtained from those respective agencies. The state of West Virginia has directed most non-essential staff to telework in all instances possible, therefore all oversize/overweight permits will be issued remotely. This should not cause any delays in the usual processing times, however there will be delays for calls. Customers are asked to contact the permit technician via email at the following addresses. Single trip Oversize/Overweight/Superload permits are not to be used for Mobile Homes Overweight annual permits can only be utilized by combination vehicles with five (5) or more axles, single unit vehicles can only utilize an oversize annual permit. Electronic as well as paper copies of hauling permits are now valid for travel in West Virginia. *** Permitted travel time policies have changed. Please see 'West Virginia Permit Information', under 'Reference Material', for details.*** For instructions on How to Register, and Order Permits, go to https://wv.gotpermits.com/wvpass/golivefaqs.pdf 2020 Holiday Travel Restrictions An oversize/overweight permit shall not be valid for the operation of a vehicle on the following 2020 holidays: Memorial Day: Saturday, May 23, 2020 through Monday, May 25, 2020 Independence Day: Saturday, July 4, 2020 Labor Day: Saturday, September 5, 2020 through Monday, September 7, 2020 Thanksgiving Day: Thursday, November 26, 2020 Christmas Day: Friday, December 25, 2020 New Years Day: Friday, January 1, 2021 An oversize permit shall not be valid during the nighttime hours of sunset to sunrise. 2020 Office Closed Dates The WV permit office will be closed on the following dates. Permits may still be applied for and even system issued during these times; however, any office processing required will be delayed.
